THE STORY OF MUSHROOMS
HOW IT BEGAN
Mushrooms Studios kicked off with a simple dream: build a place where musicians feel right at home. Back in 2012, we opened our first spot in Musselburgh. Ross built it by hand, packed it with gear musicians actually love, and kept the vibe laid-back and welcoming. It didn’t take long for local bands and artists to make it their go-to.
Then, in early 2025, a fire in the unit next door hit us hard, shutting things down overnight. But we weren’t done. Within a month, we bounced back stronger, setting up home at Fenton Barns, just outside North Berwick, with even more fire in our hearts.
WHERE WE ARE NOW
The new spot at Fenton Barns ended up becoming more than just a rebuild - it's a big step up. We’ve got two fully equipped standard rooms and our brand-new MRM Pro Room, taking what musicians loved about the old place and making it even better.
With carefully tuned acoustics and a growing collection of high-end gear (check our blog for the full list), it’s the perfect place to bring your music to life.
WHAT'S NEXT
We’re not stopping here. With a host of fresh ideas brewing - from rock schools to creative collaborations - we’re laying the groundwork for even more ways to support local music.
It’s early days for some of these plans, but we’re excited about what’s ahead and where it could take us.
